Get Started
I just finished working on a video that actually shows you the entire content of the class I teach to beginning bloggers in Southern California. This video shows you everything you need to know to…
(1) Get your own domain name;
(2) Create a web hosting account;
(3) Install WordPress on your web host; and
(4) Set up your blog.
This is similar to the video I did on getting a FREE blog at WordPress.com. The difference is that, when you set up a blog at WordPress, you can’t have your own domain name. Your website’s address is something like…
http://MyWebsite.wordpress.com…
… which isn’t that professional-looking. On the other hand, it’s FREE… and it’s a great way to practice and learn WordPress.
But when you want to have your OWN website, you have to shell out some cash, get a web host and install WordPress manually. This is what the following video shows you how to do.
I recommend BlueHost.com as a web host for three reasons: (1) it’s the cheapest web host that I’ve found; (2) it’s recommended by WordPress and has all the right software right there; and, most important, domain names are FREE and the cost of every additional website/domain name is only $10 a year.
So, if you want to set up your own website and blog, watch the video below. It only takes 15 minutes or so. Following the video, I have WRITTEN instructions that will guide you through the same process.
If you’d like to see more of these amateurish but informative videos as I get them finished, just fill in the form below (yes, I like these sign-up forms and plaster all over the house… put them on the TV in my kids’ rooms… even put one on the bathroom mirrors)… This is one of the super-easy technologies I plan on teaching in my classes…
